For this limited edition Oude Geuze Barrel Selection Madeira Edition, one-and-a-half-year-old lambic was aged for 24 months in barrels that previously held Madeira, a Portuguese fortified wine.

After adding some young Lambic, the beer was bottled and then aged in bottle for another 18 months. This makes for a complex Oude Geuze, with nutty notes (typical of Madeira) and a vinous finish.
